What is a disclosure order?

An order for disclosure under section 33 of the Family Law Act 1986 requires any person who the court has reason to believe may have information relevant to where a child is, to disclose that information to the court. In addition, the court can order relevant government departments to provide information as to where a missing child might be, e.g. The Department of Social Security, NHS Central Register, The Passport Office and the MOD.
